Departments and Building Coordinators

The following resources are available for department administrators and building coordinators to help navigate services associated with hazardous materials.

The EH&S Hazardous Waste Program serves as the primary point of contact for:

  • EPA Identification (EPA ID) Numbers
  • Regulatory liaison support
  • Monitoring and guidance for regulatory concerns
  • Reporting and report management

Services

UCLA is responsible for the hazardous waste it generates from initial generation through final disposition. To ensure regulatory compliance, UCLA EH&S is responsible for record retention and regulatory reporting, management of UCLA campus EPA Identification (EPA ID) numbers, hazardous waste manifesting, verification of EPA ID numbers for Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs) and transporters, oversight and compliance of hazardous waste accumulation areas.

Construction and Renovation Services

We encourage laboratories to routinely dispose of unwanted, unused, and expired chemicals through our regular hazardous waste pickup program. In some cases, chemicals may be left behind after a move or discovered abandoned within a facility. EH&S provides small-scale laboratory and chemical cleanout services to help departments safely manage and dispose of these materials.
